Get to Know Sheila Fennell
It seems that a great buying and selling experience is rather hard to come by these days.  Buying and selling your home (not to mention moving) is a very stressful and emotions can run high - when you're working with someone who you don't know very well, things are even harder.I thought if I took a few moments to tell my clients why I'm in the business and where I've come from - that perhaps some of these reservations may be overcome.I grew up north of Peterborough, on Pigeon Lake (where my parents still live).  It still is a community where everyone knows everyone and to a large extent the "village" raised the kids.  In fact, I can't believe how life has changed in only 30 years - back then, we were actually on a "party-phone-line" because the technology was not there for everyone to have their own service!  We shared our line with 4 different neighbours - I still remember our ring was a long and 2 shorts!I attended public school in Omemee at Lady Eaton and secondary in Peterborough at Crestwood Secondary.   Favourite sports were tennis, field hockey and down hill ski racing.  Summers were filled with swimming, water skiing, collecting bugs (yuck) and building forts.  The "country kid" did however, make it to the big city - all of my extended family lived in Toronto, so we found ourselves there most weekends.  I love Toronto - I must admit, the theatres, restaurants, attractions, and shopping are all favourite pass times...it was very easy for me to make the decision to attend University in the heart of it all - downtown at Ryerson where I earned an Bachelor of Commerce in Hospitality and Tourism. For the next 10 years or so, I lived in many different "416" locations including, Church and Carlton, Yonge and Eglinton, Danforth and Pape, Queen and Leuty.  I also had many different jobs from "entrepreneurial" to very "corporate" companies - I worked in advertising, marketing, fine restaurant feasibility and development, a luxury hotel chain, event planning and corporate incentives.  I won employee awards and was very involved with our large industry association, being elected to the Board of Directors, where I sat for 2 years.  I had the opportunity to travel the world (Canada, USA, Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, South Africa, Ireland), seeing and doing wonderful things along the way. Also during that time I fell in love, got married and in 2004 we were blessed with identical twin girls.  I kissed my corporate life good bye, happily by choice - as I wanted to be community based and have the flexibility required for a young family.I now work full time (the babies are in daycare with another "twin-mom" - sent to me by an angel, I'm sure) and do my best to balance my family (#1 priority) and a busy career, which I also love.Although we loved Toronto, when it came time to buying our first home, we were not in love with the prices - there's something about paying $300,000 for a "fixer-upper" and still not getting parking that just didn't sit well with us - so we expanded our scope and thank God we did, because we fell in love with our new community - Tribute's Lakeside community in Ajax.  It was like a hidden gem - and we bought it faster than deciding what to have for dinner!  We've been nothing but happy ever since. At the risk of sounding totally cheesy - I love being part of my clients' lives for a short period of time in which they make an important life decision.  I think about them enjoying holidays and good times with their friends and family in their new home...a home that I helped them find and equally as important, negotiated on their behalf.  And...at the risk of sounding totally capitalistic, negotiating the best deal for my clients is what I like the most - let's face it, your home is the corner stone of your family's personal wealth - that's important and although it's not something you think about every day (thank goodness) it certainly affects your everyday life. That being said, my goal is not to build an empire (I'll leave that up to the Trumps of the world) - my goal is to build my business locally (in Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa), working hard and satisfying one customer at a time. Please give me the opportunity to earn your business - I'll give you the professionalism, knowledge and importance that you deserve during your real estate experience.

I love residential real estate - helping people find their new home - and then negotiating the best price for them, is what I love best.  Selling over $7.5 million in real esate in 2006 and working with many great people, I was able to achieve the honoured RE/MAX 100% Award level.
