The design of such structures with the architectural development is the most important step in the process of building your dream home. It takes a great design to make a great structure. Unlike most timber frame manufacturing facilities bound to a large overhead, we can take time to provide our clients with the level of details and confidence that they expect from us. No project is too small or too big, too simple or too complicated. If you can imagine it, we can build it.
The design process can vary quite a bit as some of our customers select a third party architect of their choice and let us design the timber frame structure within a given floor plan. Others let us handle the all the architectural design as well. Either way it is always important that the timber frame structure is fully integrated into the architectural design from the beginning. With our 3D CAD-CAM software we generate preliminary renderings quickly and add the necessary details as we are getting closer to the final design and the associated shop drawings. The structural analysis and joinery details of such structures are developed in our engineering department according the clients visual requirements. Most timber frame joints are designed with traditional mortise and tenon joinery, pegged with hardwood tunnels. Additional reinforcement with steel parts is required in some situations. Such steel parts can be applied internally and hidden, or can be applied externally and serve as an architectural component depending on the customers preference. We have a small network of manufacturing facilities that fabricates our designs to the highest quality standards. The timber frame installation is typically coordinated with the general contractor and can be done in several different ways. Some GC’s have the experience to do the job on their own; others prefer to have a supervisor on site to help with the installation. In this case or if the structure is complex we supervise the installation with one of our experienced timber frame installers. A third possibility is to use one of our trusted installation crews.
