As I mentioned earlier in a blog, the Real Estate Section of the Washington Post was abuzz with Great articles on the Homebuyer Tax Credit, etc. Under a sub section called Real Estate Matters, Ilyce R. Glink, and Samuel J. Tamkin answer readers questions on the Homebuyer Tax Credit. I have provid...

Saturday's Washington Post Real Estate Section was loaded with Goodies. An article by Kenneth R. Harney titled "Enter the Maze of Tax Credit Rules" pointed out the new guidelines as issues by the Internal Revenue Service or IRS. The agency's advice is to as he put it "cool it" for a few weeks. Th...

The average 30 Year Fixed rate on record was reported by The Washington Post at 4.71%. If ever there was a time to refinance or buy a new home this is it. Rates have nowhere to go but up. The previous record was in April 2009 at 4.78% for a 30 year fixed rate loan. Here is the link to the article...

I was approached by a soon to be retiree last night and he asked me if I knew about reverse mortgages. I said "yes, of course," He mentioned that he heard from a friend in California that received a unique new reverse mortgage where you could keep your current home and rent it out (Likely because...

I saw a bumper sticker the other day. It was the same day, at my wife's request, I applied for a government job (fat chance anyway). Have you ever applied for a government job? OMG, on the paperwork. I have been a member of the sargents program  here in the D.C. area for just over a year now. If you want to know more about it check it out at sarg...

Going into the Thanksgiving Holiday, I noticed a slowdown in activity in my still incubating real estate sales business. I realized this morning, after a nice lazy four day weekend, that this is the time I need to set both real estate sales, real estate investment, and personal goals for the next...

My friend bought a 2010 Toyota Highlander. The other day I schlepped up to Silver Spring, Maryland from Fairfax, Virginia to drop off the friend and his old car and give him a ride home. Took about an hour or so due to the day before Thanksgiving midday traffic. The Dealer, DARCARS, is not one I ...

I had just read an article in the Washington Postthis morning about a lady and her four kids who were sold a $689,000 townhouse in Clarksburg, MD (outer DC suburb) with an income of less than $15,000 per year. The seller was a mortgage broker who got her "qualified" for the loan and made $203,000...

I find the Wall Street Journal to be a useful source of information for all sorts of reasons. The Washington Post is just bird cage bedding on most days but the WSJ is still a good source of information. Today in the Personal Journal section a front page article titled "What Facebook Can't Give Y...
