The city council has decided not to help The TodiMusicFest with an additional $174,334 for the upcoming season.  This could put this years program in jeopardy.  Also in trouble is funding for future years.  This seems like one of those items you need to do to make the city a better place.  Grante...

Apparently no one in the legislature has much interest in letting our cities police themselves in regards to smoking.   Four bills were put to sleep this sessions.  Several cities in South Hampton Roads wanted to put a stop to smoking in restaurants and bars.  As it is, only Norfolk has the power...

It's a shame but the proposed new courthouse could fall victim to the failing economy and a city overburdened with other projects.  The biggest bill facing the city is the $45 million for the three story building.  There are plenty of other projects that cost money including replacing the westbou...

Two South Hampton Roads legislators have sponsored bills to enhance local governments' power to fine absentee owners of blighted vacant proprieties. The bills by Sen. Louise Lucas and Del. Paula Miller will not be passed this year.  That is a shame and a blight on our legislature.  The bills will...
