4 Ways You Can Afford Solar Panels Solar energy is thermal or electrical energy that you can harvest from sunlight. To benefit from this form of energy, you must install solar panels on your property. The panels absorb solar energy to make the electric current you can direct to your circuits. Solar allows you to save a great deal of cash on your utility bills. With the price of utility bills rising significantly lately, solar will probably remain a suitable money-saving alternative for decades. Going solar is also an excellent way of improving your home’s value because people view solar photovoltaic panels as upgrades, just like a finished basement or a renovated kitchen. Additionally, going solar is a good way of reducing the pollution caused by electricity generation and other non-ren...

Week 5 Home Maintenance Tip! Today I was asked about painting vinyl siding on a 2 ½ year old home I am preparing to list.  I asked why and it turns out the color so I shared about life expectancy of vinyl siding.  Most vinyl siding will last from 30 to 40 years with proper maintenance and care.  Even here in Florida for the most part it holds the color, don’t believe me ride around north of 466.  Some of these homes with siding were built early in 1990’s and still look good!Yes, you can paint vinyl siding, I found this on the web:  Be sure to apply the paint in even and thin coats, and then go over it again with thicker coats after the first coat has dried. If you have done the job right, your paint should last around 10 years.  A neighbor replaced his siding, went from a shade of blue to beige and looks great.  Wi...

...Age-ProofedOur middle son and his wife are having their 1st child (a boy! 😎) and they happen to be building a new home. This started Pam & me down memory lane and the things we did to baby-proof our home. Naturally, we did all the things people usually do so I won't bore you with the details. I will say, that things are a little less concerning now since we came across plant-based cleaning products. The ones we use don't even require those caps even an adult struggles to get open. We still have the under-the-sink cabinet door hooks, door knob guards, stairway, and room gates like those shown below. So anyhow, I started poking around the internet and found this jammed with information article from "The Bump" about baby-proofing your home which prompted me to share it with you all. For...

It seems lately I have been called upon sadly to help out families that their parents living here in The Villages, Florida need to move on to the next chapter.  Some a spouse has passed or for health reasons it is time to return to where home was and be near family.  I can count five in the past few months and I am honored they asked for my help but please declutter while you can.  I work with a local estate sale company and they are my first call, then charitable organizations and finally bulk pickup. The days before an estate sale as they are setting up I walk around the home and look at the number of tables both inside the home and usually the garage is full of displayed items.  It is amazing how much stuff we can accumulate over the years and yes, I am guilty of it as well.  Every ti...
