Okay, so you're talking about in addition to the coop fee that's being paid to the agent by the seller? Is there additional work that the buyer's agent is doing for the buyer that would require additional time or incur additional cost to the buyer's agent? There are a lot of variables here. Can you clarify? I know you can't respond to me and not out yourself. But you could add to your question.

I've heard this done before and it just seems like greed to me.
We make a nice living - we don't need to be beating up the agent on the other side of the transaction for more, then running it through the buyer.

Hi, Anonymous. If you are a Broker, that's your personal choice to make.
If you are a buyer or a seller:
Read the fine print on both sides of the contract before signing. Know the total amount of money that you will be charged by the broker. That applies to listing contracts for sellers, and buyer brokerage contracts for buyers. If you don't understand the wording or the numbers, see a lawyer. If the agent won't let you take a copy of the brokerage contract to your lawyer, show them the door.

Some big brokerages charge an additional fee and teach the agent to pass it on to the buyer and/or seller. I guess it depends whether the buyer or seller is willing to pay for it or whether the agent is willing to eat the fee.

I've heard of it... but no, I don't believe in it. Commission is more than enough compensation for me.

Nope, why penalize people who usually don't have enough money for the down payment? That money could be used for a home inspection, attorneys fees, etc.

Only if the seller is not willing to pay a fair fee.
Many business opportunities the sellers do not want to pay a finder fee.
In many countries the buyer need to pay his agent a fee.

I see this in my market Candice A. Donofrio. It's usually disquised as a "technology fee" or a "document storage fee" or "transaction coordinator fee."
Not charging these is something I market to potential buyers as a differentiator.

I would never consider charging a Buyer.... I am getting paid from the Listing Brokerage... why would I need to charge the Buyer? That sounds a bit greedy to me an I doubt you could find a Buyer to do that.

If you are talking an addittional fee on top of the commission paid to a buyer broker from the sale, it depends. If the sale is on a fsbo or a seller who refuses to pay a buyer agent than yes. Bit a fee on top of the buyer agent commission, then no
