Hello Nancy, having been a residnet for over 20 year sin St. Augustine, there are many places and sites to see. If you love history, then a downtown hotel on the Bayfront or a B&B is always an option. There are several along the Bayfront that are within walking distance to St. George Street & the Bridge of Lions & After Nov 15, there will be the Night of Lights to enjoy in the downtown area. If you like the Beach, stay on Anasatasia Island. There is a Hitlon, Embassy Suites and a new Marriott that are close to the Pier Park and great Restaurants at the Beach. If you like Golf, stay out at the World Golf Village, about 20 mile out of town but a wonderful Hall of Fame to visit. There is so much to see and do here in town, please plan to stay an extra day for fun ! Enjoy your trip.

St. Augustine is a real treasure. We have visited several times but have not stayed in the city. Enjoy the holiday festivities.

If you want the historic district, stay in one of the downtown hotels. Be prepared to pay $$$$, especially during holidays. If you want ocean view/beach front, stay at St. Augustine Beach.
As Ron and Alexandra Seigel suggested, check with TripAdvisor for reviews.

We stay in our preferred chain hotels to get the points. It usually turns out well.
